I received my helical cutter head blade for my harbor freight Bauer thickness planner. They sent everything I needed to switch out the new cutter head and performs wells! So glad I found a place that could offer such a product that no one else could!
This Steel City jointer has been usef on and off again since purchased new in 2008. Original knives had been replaced after a number of sharpenings.
After replacing the cutter in my 15" floor planer to a Shelix cutter a number of years ago, changing the jointer seemed an inevitable thing to do.
Discovered Sheartak after looking and reading reviews on a number of woodworking forums, and was pleasantly surprised to learn it is Canadian.
The cutter was received within days of placing the order. I was also very pleased to see quality NTN bearings pre installed onto the cutter shafts. Installation into my machine was straightforward to do. Using a dial indicator to sweep the cuttrr from the outfeed table across its width, the cutter showed good consistency across a number of the carbides with a total indicated deviation of about .0015" from highest to lowest reading.
First test cuts on some 6" wide maple, the machine is notably quieter on such a full width cut, chip collection is excellent with the smaller sized chips instead of ribbons coming off the knives.
Cut quality is superb, as I expected with a carbide. Time will tell how the carbides hold up, two good projects are lined up for the jointer over the next few weeks.
I have been considering upgrading my planer for quite some time. I finally made the decision and installed my cutterhead with the directions provided. Installation went very smooth despite my lack of mechanical skills. The cutterhead works amazing! Boards come out with a near sanded finish. The biggest upgrade is the decrease in noise. The noise reduction is significant over my traditional cutterhead. Jointer upgrade next!!
Header arrived quickly. Instruction video included was helpful. Questions I had on installation answered quickly. Highly recomend.

Bought an old Craftsman Pro 6" jointer used and thought this would make it a superior machine having had other machines in my shop with Spiral cutter heads. Installation was very straightforward and took about 30 minutes on my machine. Immediately notice a quieter and smoother cutting difference. Very satisfied with the results.
Needed to change some knife edges and somewhat damaged the T25 socket on a couple of the screws. These are just what I needed and am sure they are exactly what is needed.
Needed to rotate the blades on my Dewalt 735X cutter head. The current position hasn't been rotated in a while and the motor is telling me that it's time. I'm pretty good at getting a uniform torque when tightening the retaining screws, but decided it was time to upgrade. This torque wrench is just what I needed. I was trully impressed with the quality of this tool. The fit and finish is superb. My one disappointment is that I waited this long to do this upgrade. The Sheartak is a great planing head, and now I have an equally good torque wrench to go with it.

I have been using and installing these in tools i professionally restore for customers for years. Like any helical head the cut is fantastic and the savings of time on blade sharpening and setting is eliminated.
In the modern world using antique skil100’s the best choice you can make for convenience , labor savings in time and ease of use, one of these cutter heads is the best investment you can make . When you have your skil rebuilt GET a spiral cutterhead and never look back.

Really happy with this cutter head. It was easy to install and noticeably quieter than the stock “spiral style” cutter head. The quality of cut is much better too.
What surprised me most is how much easier the jointer seems to work. I can take a deeper cut and feed the board faster, and the machine still feels like it’s working less than it did with the stock cutter head.
Quieter, much better cut quality, and I can work faster without pushing the machine as hard. Absolutely worth it!
Good upgrade for an old sturdy machine. Fast shipment. Product was well packaged and arrived without any issues. The machine is much quiter and the wood finnish is excelent. Be aware that the drive pully on the old shaft is a pain to remove, and this one is machined a little smaller so it has to be glued with locktite.
Sheartax was very responsive. After I ordered, they contacted me to get measurements from the sears OEM cutters which is needed to custom fit the spiral cutter to the sears outfeed table which is not adjustable. After receiving new cutter, installation was easy. The new cutter is quieter and cuts like butter compared to my old nicked sears blades. I watched YouTube videos on how to get the OEM cutter out and they were confusing on the sequence of removing the snap rings holding the bearings.shaft and cutter, however I figured it out.
Great cutting head! Much quieter than the original, and the finish requires very little sanding. The first head I was given was the incorrect head, but it was replaced within 2 days.
Excellent customer service from Lucy. my jointer had 6 different original cutter heads, she walked through all the measurements to ensure i ordered the right one. Intallation was very easy. shipment arrived 2 days early. well packaged.

This is the second helical head I've installed into my machines from Sheartak. Both have been excellent quality and packaged very well. Lookup installation instructions for this planer on their YouTube channel - video titled "16 inch Auto Planer installation". Scott Walsh explains the process very clearly.
10/10 would recommend. Installation video was thorough and made for a quick job. Cutterhead works wonderfully on difficult and figured hardwoods.
I purchased the 18” cutterhead for my Woodmaster model 718 planer and am totally satisfied with the performance and quality of the head. I am a machinist by trade and recognize quality when i see it. The new head is extremely quieter than the conventional straight knife design. Installation went well.Thanks for a well made piece.

We've only been running this for about 2 weeks but so far it has been a great improvement over the original knives. The inserts lost their initial sharpness but are stil producing a very high quality surface and we will definitely be investing in these for our other two KP123's as they need new drums.
