Cuts like a hot knife in butter. Very Nice!
In early April, Tim from Ontario reached out to us regarding upgrading his Rockwell-Invicta 22450 Planer, manufactured in Brazil in September 1984, and his 12" jointer planer K1180562 produced by JoS. Poitras & Fils Ltee. Despite their age, both machines are still in excellent working condition.
Our options cater to hobbyists with budget considerations as well as industrial applications requiring high configurations.
The Rockwell 22-450 cutterhead is 120mm , we provided four options.
1) 6 spirals with 132 carbide inserts
2) 8 spirals with 176 carbide inserts
3) 9 spirals with 201 carbide inserts
4) 10 spirals with 220 carbide inserts
For Poitras K1180562, we provide
5 spirals with 65 Carbide inserts
6 spirals with 78 carbide inserts
8 spirals with 104 carbide inserts
Although Tim isn't operating at an industrial scale, he works with hard maple and prefers to minimize sanding. Therefore, he opted for a 10-row cutterhead with 220 carbide inserts for his Rockwell 22450 20" planer and a 6-spiral configuration with 78 carbide inserts for his Poitras K1180562 12" jointer.
On April 14, the dimensions for both cutterheads were confirmed, and these custom-made cutterheads were completed for delivery by May 17. Tim collected them on May 24th and proceeded with installation.
Tim's feedback is simple: Cuts like a hot knife in butter. Very nice.
